Would I be going backwards in buying the 1Dii and getting rid of the 400D?
Thanks

wow Peter from my experience it is nowhere near going backwards, massive leaps and bounds forward!
I had the 300d which albeit is not as fast as the 400d, and moving from the relatively slow frame rate and auto-focus to the 8.5 fps machine gun and accurate fast auto focus has been the best thing ive done yet, apart from actually getting into photography. Sure it may not have your 10 megapixels or bigger screen, but it more than makes up for it in its professional build and features. You will not be disappointed!

thanks guys. just wasnt sure with the 1d only having a cmos2 sensor and 8.something Mpixels. My other option would be a 50D? would a 50D be better than the 1D?
cheers

The 50D will achieve great results in the water but it's hard to go pass a 1D series body.

Hey Peter,
If you have found a decent second hand 1d2 that doesnt have 1 million shutter counts then you will be very pleased with the images you get from that body. We all seem to get caught up with upgrading when something new pops up but honestly i had my 1d2 for years and so many photos published (not trying to claim anything here) but my point is the image quality is more than enough and better than some newer cameras with smaller sensors. Dont worry about screen size, you cant rely on the screen for anything other than how your shot was framed etc. Even on a brand new 7D or 5D2 ill crop in on the screen to check focus and it all looks fine until you get home on the lappy and see its not quite what you thought. Bullshit to the screen!
As for the processor, the newer camera have digic 4 and duel digic 4 to handle multiple large files. The processor in the 1D2 will handle a burst of about 18 raw files and 8.5fps will blow you away.
If you did want to go with one of the newer bodies then id say check out a 7D.

Cool thanks Lee,
Yeah I've found a clean one with under 20k shutters. I hear what your saying about the quality rather than the megapixels & sensor(s) etc. The 1D2 certainly sounds like a lightning fast camera.
I wish I had the do$h to consider a 7d but its just out of my reach atm.
Thanks
